Incoterms® 2010 NOW ACCEPTING PREORDERS! (estimated ship date: Sept. 15, 2010)

Incoterms 2010 is available for purchase.

Incoterms® define the responsibilities of buyer and seller for delivery of goods under sales contracts. Incoterms® aren't automatic; they are subject to negotiation and the successful buyer or seller is often the one who is best at negotiating the terms of sale. The terms were recently revised, trimming the terms down from thirteen to just eleven, tailored for the needs of users worldwide... Incoterms® 2010 is the new authoritative text for determining how costs and risks are allocated to the parties in a transaction. These rules will come into effect on January 1, 2011. As the terms in the past, these Incoterms® will be regularly incorporated into sales contracts worldwide and become part of the daily language of trade.

Incoterms® 2010 sets forth the revised eleven terms of sale in a format easily readable and understood.  The “mirror image” approach permits the reader to quickly compare its responsibilities, risks, and division of costs to that of the other party to the transaction.  If you are negotiating, advising on, or implementing a sales contract you must understand the implications of the term of sale selected. Not realizing what a negotiated term required could increase costs and reduce profits to the seller because those costs were not considered when the final quotation was presented to the buyer. The ICC Official Rules for the Interpretation of Trade Terms, Incoterms® 2010 also includes notes and graphics to help you efficiently choose the right rule for your transactions, advise for use in domestic trade, information on security-related shipment clearances, and new classifiction to help choosing the right rule relative to mode of transport.
